Group Alumni

Parson Chan
Parson completed his MS in the School of Chemistry & Biochemistry in May 2026. As part of his program, he carried out research in the group using non-targeted metabolomics informatics workflows to characterize the chemical properties of organic molecules in tropical peatlands in Indonesia. He presented his findings at the Southeastern Biogeochemistry Symposium before graduating. Parson is now a PhD student in Geography and Environmental Systems at University of Maryland Baltimore County.
MS student, Chemistry & Biochemistry

Jae Clery
Summer REU student
Jae is an undergraduate student at the College of Coastal Georgia who participated in the group as a summer REU student in 2026. She investigated controls on iron concentrations, DOC chemistry, and DOC photomineralization in a flooded Alaskan wetland, and presented her findings at the Georgia Tech College of Science Research Symposium. She is broadly interested in geochemistry and hopes to pursue graduate school in the future. Jae will complete her BS in Environmental Science (concentrations in Geology and Chemistry and a minor in Math) in spring 2027.

Jad El Kaissi
Summer undergraduate researcher
Jad is a third-year Mechanical Engineering undergraduate at Georgia Tech from Beirut, Lebanon! He is interested in motorsports design and manufacturing, and joined the group out of curiosity to learn more about biogeochemistry and to help manufacture designs for controlled photochemistry experiments in the group. He enjoys playing tennis, pickleball, padel, and motorsport racing!
