Join the Lab

We are always looking for folks who are motivated to study the molecular-level details of how and why biogeochemical cycles are changing along the land-ocean continuum. Because we use a mix of lab, field, and computational methods, we encourage prospective lab members with a wide range of backgrounds to reach out.
Undergraduate Students
We are currently recruiting two Georgia Tech undergraduate students to join our lab for Spring 2026!

Our lab often has research opportunities for students interested in aquatic biogeochemistry during the semester or over the summer. Students with previous coursework or work experience in geochemistry, environmental science, or Matlab are encouraged to apply, although this experience is not required.
If you are interested in hearing more about current projects, email Dr. Bowen (jenniferbowen@gatech.edu) with a description of your interests and background and your resume/CV.
Prospective Graduate Students
Opportunities for graduate students will depend on upcoming funding announcements. Interested students can apply to the School of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences MS or PhD program (January 1st deadline), the Ocean Sciences & Engineering PhD program (December 15th deadline) or the School of Chemistry & Biochemistry PhD program (December 1st deadline) depending on their academic background and research interests.
It is highly encouraged that prospective students apply for graduate fellowships to support their studies. If you interested in pursing a fellowship to join the lab, please email Dr. Bowen (jenniferbowen@gatech.edu) > 2 months before the deadline with a description of your research interests, academic background, and with your CV.
Postdoctoral Researchers
Prospective postdocs are encouraged to reach out to discuss overlapping research interests and potential funding opportunities. Postdoc fellowship applications are a great way to develop proposal writing skills and to develop (and hopefully carry out!) an independent research idea. If you are interested in applying for a postdoctoral fellowship, reach out > 2 months before the deadline to discuss project ideas.
